One of the happiest days of my life is when I became a grandmother. My daughter had just delivered a beautiful little girl and could hardly wait to go shopping for the new little baby girl. I decided to go shopping for cute baby girl clothes as soon as I could so that the baby could go home in the outfit I picked.
The store was not crowded so I was able to take my time in selecting the type of infant girl clothes my granddaughter would need to wear that was both comfortable and stylish. I looked in the racks that were marked for infants and started to select the useful clothes instead of the fashionable infant girl clothes. I felt that at this age the baby needed to be comfortable and able to move around easily rather then be wearing something that is fashionable and not comfortable.
The best type of clothes for a baby to wear at infancy would be a little cotton dress made especially for infants. The dress makes it easier when it is time for a diaper change. A light weight blanket can cover her legs in the house and if it gets cooler a heavier blanket will do the trick.
Since we do live in Florida where it is hot most of the year it was important that I select cotton fabrics so that the baby would be both cool and comfortable. Comfort is more important than having the baby dressed in the latest fashions especially since she would outgrow the clothes in a few weeks. There are many beautiful clothes for infants that are both practical and yet in style and will allow her to easily turn and twist as an infant will do.
Cotton clothes are great all year round for an infant, and if the weather does turn a little cool then a little sweater on top of the cotton infant girl clothes will keep her warm. If it gets chilly in the house then a warm blanket or comforter will keep the baby comfortable while she sleeps.
There are many infant girl clothes that can also be bought secondhand. This will save a great deal of money for clothes that the baby will probably outgrow in a month. However I could not bring myself to buy them for my brand new granddaughter who is so fresh and new. I wanted her to wear infant girl clothes that also reflected the fact that she was new and was wearing new clothes and was the first infant to wear them. After all, second hand clothes mean just that! Some other baby had worn the infant girl clothes first which meant that they were hand-me-downs.
I bought my granddaughter her first clothes that were of a soft cotton fabric in prints and pastel colors that showed that she was a girl. For those who doubted it I also bought a her a white soft hat to keep her head warm.
When you are out shopping for toddler girl clothing there are some important things to take into consideration. First you should determine the climate where the girl lives. Do they live in a warm or cold climate? This will help you know if you should be buying skirts and tank tops or cordoroy pants and sweaters. Will they need bathing suits or winter coats? Once you determine this you will need to start doing your research.
Determine how much you want to spend on your toddler’s girl clothing before you go out shopping. If you are like most consumers you will want to get as much as you can for your hard earned money. Look at all the sale circulars to see where your money goes the farthest. Look for extra coupons or incentives on the store websites too.
If you are on a tight budget then try the local thrift stores in your area. You can find some incredible deals on toddler boy clothing in them. Afterall, we all know that kids grow faster than their clothes have a chance to wear out. Try GoodWill Industries too as they are known for their wide selection of gently used toddler boy sand girls clothing. You can spend more money on a special occasion outfit or a good pair of shoes. Used footwear is not always the best for a child since each one wears them out in a different way. Sometimes you can find brand new footwear in second hand shops too. You just need to shop around.
Another way to get good quality second hand toddler boy or girl clothing is by taking hand me downs from your friends or co-workers. You can probably set up an informal clothing trading group. Once everyone starts bringing in the clothes their kids have outgrown everyone will be pleasantly surprised. You will find great outfits and the best thing is that it is free! Of course, you can still purchase a few other items to go along with your fabulous clothing treasures.
If you are buying toddler girl clothing to give as a gift then you will probably not want to give second hand clothing. Here is where you will need to do your research. If you do not get weekly sale circulars at your house then start researching online. If you are a senior citizen ask each store if they offer a senior discount. Some stores do this only on certain days and times of the week so be sure to ask.
When you purchase toddler clothing, it is amazing the amount of choices in style, fabrics, and price that are available in retail stores. Below we will discuss some tips to make your shopping experience more successful.
First of all, if you are wanting to shop within your budget, hit the sales and clearance racks to find the best deals. These are usually at the end of seasons when the store is switching over to newer stock, so check often when they are running specials and sidewalk sales. When you decide what to purchase, think practical. You don’t have to sacrifice a certain style, but try to buy clothes that can be worn with several outfits – the more versatile, the better. In winter, for instance, buy clothes that can be layered for warmth, and a reversible coat is a great investment.
Clothes for toddlers should also be carefully considered regarding the type of cloth that they are made from. Try to buy things that are hypoallergenic and comfortable. Be careful with toddler girls clothing : the little dress may be very cute, but if the child is uncomfortable and the cloth scratchy they will not enjoy wearing it.
Cotton is a good, middle of the road fiber that is generally compatible for everyone, while wool is best in winter but might not always be the best choice if the child is bothered by it. For any season, make sure that the child has adequate room in the clothes to move around and that it is breathable. This will reduce discomfort and shows quality in the design of the clothes.
Used toddler clothing is definitely something to consider, as you can get quality clothes for a fraction of the cost. There are reputable resale and thrift stores that sell clothes that may have been worn a few times or not at all, while others are in brand new condition and never worn. You can also buy large lots of children’s clothes online, and also at neighborhood garage sales. Check them over carefully for tears, stains, and wear; make sure to wash them before your own child puts them on. If you are on a limited budget, this is a great way to stretch your dollar. Particularly useful for toddler boys clothing – the boys do seem to be harder on their clothes even at such a young age.
Buying cute, pink toddler girls clothing can be fun to purchase if you use common sense with your budget, be willing to shop from a variety of sources, and to find clothes that are comfortable for your child.
